Sorry for the random question but when would you start ringing people (banks/docs/utilities/council tax etc) with the change in address ? I don't want to do too soon but also don't want to leave too late and have bank stuff coming to my 'old' address

Once you have exchanged is a good time to get things rolling, but as Eddy says , a re-direction is essential as well , covers all bases thenNever, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.0 -

I would change addresses after you've exchanged contracts and up to a week before completion. If anything is sent to your new address before completion most vendors would leave the mail in the property. There is a small fraud risk though.
If you're renting you can really only change addresses the day you sign the tenancy agreement and get the keys as the offer can be withdrawn any time up until that day.
Royal Mail redirection covers everything else. 6 months is usually the recommended time.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
