Historic Mortgage PPI claim

Hi,
I have found a letter in my elderly father's house from 1999 from Royal & Sun Alliance. It is a reminder stating that his Mortgage Protection Policy (which has provided life cover) has expired. I have no idea how long he paid Mortgage PPI or if he renewed. Is this worth pursuing? It's quite old and it includes life cover so not sure if its a valid PPI claim?
Thanks
Staro

If your father is still alive then he cannot claim on the policy. If the policy ended in 1999 then that is another reason he cannot claim on the policy.

That assumes you mean claim. if you mean complain, then what on earth would you be complaining about. For life assurance, you would have to be immortal to have a valid complaint.

PPI is PPI. Life assurance is not PPI. What are you going to ask next? can you claim on your car insurance and if that is a valid PPI claim?

I find it remarkable that people see the word "insurance" and automatically assume that it must be PPI and was therefore somehow mis-sold.

Unless your father is immortal, he cannot complain about the life policy attached to his mortgage which may or may not have expired 17 years ago.

I suppose, as the number of genuine complaints is now on the wane, there will be many others raiding attics in the forlorn hope of finding a forgotten PPI policy.

I always have sympathy for the genuine mis-sales but the ambulance chasers frustrate me. They should frustrate everyone because it means some genuine complaints get looked at with doubt because every dodgy or try-it-on complaint uses the same reasons.
