Is it for lone parent work focused interview?

If not the rules may be slightly different than those rachnbri.

None of mine were lone parent, one was a "for partners" and one "for carers".

Both of those can be deferred as well.

She must go or she will lose benefits, the interviews are nothing to worry about but she has to go.

She should be able to get excempted I was able to once when asked for a work focused interview, the idea of the interviews is to aid in a progress of returning to work again. If you not in a position to do this then there is no point to the interview at all and job centre staff can allow the claimant to not attend if there is a good reason. Of course you are right tho if she has been told to go then she has to or her benefit will be stopped.
  • I got one of these letters and I was in hospital! They did put it off for a month though, the advisor I saw eventually at the Jobcentre Plus was really nice and it wasn't anything to worry about.

mine was horrible she kept saying things like I know you can do this and do that and at your age you shouldnt expect to be on benefits for the next 30 years basically been aggressive and pushy I was very offended as I didnt choose to have my condition. I then voluntarily did another interview over the phone with someone else (rang them of my own back) and that person was more friendly and understanding.

The policy on deferral of interviews is national - sounds like someone in a particular office has got a little above themselves!!
