Homes near Outstanding Schools

As someone has already indicated, schools have a life and can change very quickly, depending on factors like intake, staff turmover, new head - or old one getting complacent.
Plus I think I am correct in saying that there is absolutely no research to provide evidence that OFSTED are accurate or useful.0 -

I work in an requires improvement school, but have always personally been graded outstanding (until recently when they stopped grading teachers personally, though you can get a 'If we were still grading I would give you.... but we're not)
I work with a lot of fantastic teachers.
Schools requiring improvement can be so for a number of different reasons.
Some schools in affluent areas get outstanding easily, as their results are fantastic as they have a lot of parental support etc. Doesnt mean the teaching is better.0 -
Where I live 3 Council boundary lines are to be found. Sometimes the local Comprehensive (which is supposed to be excellent) is able to take everyone that applies but every few years there are more children than places available and so the children whose parents that pay their Council tax to the Council where the school is situated are given priority.0

Don't make the error of assuming that an outstanding ofsted school offers better education. Sometimes it does, some time it doesn't. You are much better off visiting the school. My DS went from an outstanding primary school to one under 'remedial measures' and then 'requiring improvements' when we moved. At first I was very worried, but I can now say that the second school offered a much better education than the first and the kids were much more pleasant.
Again with secondary school we had the choice between an outstanding and good school, went for the latter and two years on, I know we made the right decision.
The primary just behind my house has been rated outstanding yet the way they treat kids (and still does) was horrendous. If a child has a disability or needs additional help they're either ignored or treat like 2nd class citizens until they leave or are driven out. (They didn't like one bit when we went to the education dept at the council and they told the headmaster in no uncertain terms that he could not exclude children solely because of disabilities ).I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
The difference between a "good" and an "outstanding" school is nothing to the difference made by parental interest in supporting their child at home. Unless you were planning to leave it all to the school.Been away for a while.0
