Friday 10th June- what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important!

Hi All,
Ziggy hope the trial went well. My son is 5 and LOVES football. He trains 6 times a week and had a trial last week. Out of over 50 children, he was chosen as the best there! Hard work pays off!
Bob I improvised, cooked off garlic, ginger and then two chillis, little soy and fish sauce, added coconut milk, some peanut butter, little sugar and cooked through, added chicken, some lime zest and juice and served with noodles. It was delish and the OH was impressed!
Glad its Friday and also super excited for the Euros too :j:j:j
However, feeling very deflated and down. The flat I have been excited about viewing has been let. The landlord found a tenant privately and I am gutted. I thought this was it. It has taken me months to find somewhere within budget and that accepts housing benefit. Everything is way out of our price range. I feel sick with the thought of having to spend many more months where we are. The little click were outside again with their kids, making loads of noise and being disruptive whilst two out of three of mine were sound asleep. It makes my anxiety build up so much againAlso, DS2 is teething yet again so is so grumpy (he already has 6 teeth at 10 months old!).
- school run Done
- pay some bills early Done
- house hunt Nothing again
- update finances and bank Done
- chase up complaint for MIL Done
- chase up creditor who hasnt replied to DMP Done
- entertain DD and DS2 for free Done
- lunch and nursery run Done
- school run
- check FPL Done
- quick tidy up at home
- dinners from stores, havent planned anything so probably breaded chicken, wraps and salad!
I know this sounds really selfish of me but I have a dear friend who went through some mental health problems and nearly lost her children, I supported her all the way through, visited her in hospital, always listened and she has got back on her feet and got sorted. Got temporary accomodation and is happy now and wants to meet but I am not in the right frame of mind to hear about everyones happiness when life is so !!!! for me.... I feel like I am always the one helping others and nothing ever goes right for me. I could actually kick myself right now for typing this and being so selfish

mtc you are allowed to have & feel your feelings. All of them. The full range are ok! There's also nothing wrong in being selfish and looking out for yourself. If what you need right now is to not take on anyone else's problems/situations then it's right to do that.
I agree with legomum if you think meeting with this friend isn't the best time, just say to her now's not a good time and you'll contact her to arrange meeting up when things have settled down xDF as at 30/12/16

Speky I hope your brothers wedding will be great.
Plainandsimple Good luck with your day.
Make the Change your meal sounded delicious. I agree with the others . Sometimes its what you need just to withdraw a bit. Im also sorry to hear about the flat.
Ziggy Do you mean no one from the team management spoke to you or the other parents? Either way thats rude.
Determined Spanish omlette sounds yum!

Both - I thought so too (although some parents didn't even go, kids went on their own). DS just has to keep going and they'll decide in July. DS is a good little footballer (we've been told repeatedly) but these days it seems to be all about competitions. leagues and tables. Would be nice if kids could just get together play football and have fun.Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

I wonder if its something Baileysbabe would know about as the home schooling network may have some informal football teams?" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Hi everyone
So pleased to have survived the week. It's been utterly manic, and I am completely shattered (again, as always). But another week closer to getting the exam stuff done, and another week closer to the summer hols! :j 5 and a bit weeks (not that I'm counting).
Today I have:checked banking and PAD
marked a set of books
planned for next week
made good use of free time
ordered a little top up shop online for tomorrow
dropped dd off at cheer class
And still to come:drop ds and dh at footy training
collect dd and drop her at gymnastics
shower
hoover
marking
bit of crochet
Busy busy. Sorry I can't check in a bit more often or in a bit more detail.
Love and hugs to all that need xNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
