O/S Daily Friday 10 June 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x

Now light, very cloudy and overcast – looks like it’s going to rain.

DS1 getting sorted ready for work. DH having a lie-in as he has a day off. DS2 still in his pit as he’s nearly finished his exams, and now only has to go in for revision lessons, for his last exam. I’m enjoying a peaceful first cuppa.

Dinner last night was a roast chicken, roasties, carrots, broc, stuffing and gravy. I did my food shopping yesterday, as we were going to go away today but DH knee’s are really painful, so we decided not to go, I said he should get up and go to the Doc’s this morning but whether he will or not I don’t know! He has arthritis in his knees but he’s “too young” for them to do anything. Tonight I’m not sure what we will be eating, there’s plenty in the fridge, so we’ll be eating that and I’ll be making a cheesecake and fruit kebabs for Sunday. Yesterday felt very disjointed, I seemed to be busy running around all day, but don’t actually feel like I achieved very much, although I did cross off quite a bit on the “to do” list. I didn’t get any ironing done, just have a large pile of clean dry washing sat on dining room table, the dirty wash basket hasn’t got very much in it, as the weather’s been so good I’ve done a washing load each night and put it on the line first thing the next morning, and every load has dried, so I think if I can get tackle the ironing pile everything will seem tidier. I will visit town and the building society today too. I’ll get the hoover out too, I think I need to take the hoover apart as the suction doesn’t seem to be very good, I think there’s something blocking a pipe somewhere as it was fine when I put new filters in last week.

Haver good Fridays’ everyone x

Keep safe and well x

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's finally a bit cooler and we are forecast rain for most of the day. I feel a lot more comfortable and not a sweltering mess. Hubby is off to work in a minute and the girls are just starting to make an appearance.

I don't have any visitors today so I will make a start on clearing and cleaning my bedroom. There is a lot of stuff that needs to find a home instead of being piled on the floor. I shall have a cup of tea while making a master list that I can cross things off as they are done. This is the very best way I have found to motivate me.

Tea tonight is just going to be chicken and chips for the family and I have some pork shoulder chops to cook for me to last for a few days. I don't know what to have with them, I think I will make a cauliflower cheese as that isn't too bad carb-wise.

Well, that's it for me for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Well, what is this wet stuff that falls from the sky? Gentle rain outside, just been for a walk and it is lovely and fresh.

It's Friday and I finish early so all is good with the world, hope it is in yours too.

DW on, no washing to do today, glad I got the grass cut yesterday evening, will have to do some cleaning in the house later!

Have a good day, take care. XX

Little salad leaves spring up nicely.

    Morning all,

Looks to be another scorcher here off to work for me and I am very glad its Friday it seems to have been a long week !

Takeaway tonight and wine, I am very much looking forward to that, its been a very stressful week with one thing and another.

Tomorrow I will need to do a bit of shopping as we did not have a delivery this week, only need a few bits though.

The lady's funeral went very well yesterday it was very moving, we popped into the wake for a while afterwards, the spread they put on was the best I've ever seen I think, her family did her very proud.

Specky I hope your day was ok xx

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone,

Work yesterday at the charity was super busy and I had to go to Hobb*craft in the afternoon to pick up supplies for the church kids activity this afternoon. Today will be manic too. I don't feel I've stopped really since coming back from Cyprus, even the weekend was busy - that will teach me to have time off :(

DH and DS2 were on a scout hike last night and DS2's eyes are like cherry tomatoes this morning due to his hay fever poor thing. He is dosed up ready for school but I wouldn't be surprised if I get a call later....

Washing about to go on the line, but doubt I'll get anything else done today. DH is at in laws laying patio slabs again.

Speky - hope yesterday went ok

    Have a good day all.

    Morning everyone.

I slept late this morning so still a bit groggy. No rain here Camelot though it may be on the way.

My meeting in Oban was good and I've been offered some new teaching hours from September. Think I'll have to start planning soon.

Last night I pulled everything out of the bottom of the wardrobe in the spare room and it's now all on the bed waiting for attention. I have no idea why I've got so much stuff which is not needed.

I also sat and de-bobbled my wool thermals. That was so boring but the top came up really well and looks like new. I had made the mistake of wearing an old cashmere jumper on top of the merino thermal and it just became bobble hell!

Another Friday and I wish everyone a great one.

    Morning :hello:

We ended up treking up Haresfield Beacon (not as energetic as it sounds, we parked near the top, lol). Scampi had a fab time and wanted to meet the cows grazing on the lower part :D So the lead stayed on til we reached the top.

Picked up my parcel. All white shirts seem to be see-through and I have quite a few. I now have plenty of white bras and thin white vests and can wear the shirts without worrying :D

Grass seed has been sown in the No Man's Land area of the garden. Can't wait for it to grow so I can take down the tatty old fence.

It looks like it's going to rain at any moment. I hope it does because 1. I've been so hot and just want to feel cool again and 2. I don't want to go out. On mr tru's time off, he wants to go somewhere every day and it's just too much. The house ends up messy because there's no time to do things properly. And my hip is sore and I don't want to walk about for miles, it just makes it worse. An amble around the local area with Scampi is all I want to do today. No doubt he'll moan about that.

I have a couple of loads of washing to do and the house is in desperate need of dusting. The shower doors need a good scrub, the carpets need vacuuming and the floors need mopping. I feel tired just thinking about it so I'm going to have another coffee while I decide what order to do things in :D

    Good morning,

Yesterday was the funeral of my gran. I had told myself beforehand that I wouldn’t get upset, that I’d got it all out me and I’d stay strong for my family but I failed and blubbed away. The service was lovely and there was a good turnout given my grans age and health in recent years. It was lovely to see some distant family members and long-time friends though, shame it’s under those circumstances. We all went for afternoon tea afterwards and then went to my Aunts for some more food. On an MSE side, it was a NSD!

Back to work this morning. Euros kick off tonight so I’ll have a chilled one in front of the box and have an early night for my GF’s brothers wedding tomorrow at Loch Lommond, hope the nice weather stays. It’ll be a busy weekend, so I’ll be back on Monday no doubt.

redruby and coxy- thank you so much for your kind words. Very attentive and considerate.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

  • Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) hugs if you need one, glad everything went off well yesterday Speky.

We watered the garden last night, it needed a good drink, all the pots watered until the water ran out the bottom so I know thay got a good soaking.

Much cooler this morning, do not think we had the overnight rain that was forecast, maybe will get rain later today, the front grass needs it.

An away day, into melton and then on to my friends, we are going stright to the bowls club do after that so will not be back until after 8pm.

Did anyone see the Big Build last night? I sat and cried all the way through, reminded me of Mick and his boys. Old timers will remember him, several of them went down to help when the BB people virtually rebuilt his house.

Friday clean done yesterday, so will get my stuff ready to take with e. I have a pot of geraniums to take and also a couple of the sampler quilts the group have made.
