I agree, far easier just to tighten the law to ensure further appeals are unsuccessful.
Remind me, who's money is the govt spending in this case?
PS the attendance figures in this latest piece differ from the original article
I'd happily send an initial Pound that way, say with any excess at the end to go to the MSE Charity, financial eduction or population-weighted contributions to CAB national bodies. There's also a fair bit of merit philosophically in such a people funding opposition to a government case approach and it's interesting enough that it has a good prospect of garnering very widespread press coverage.
If a child makes up their work and who knows maybe goes somewhere on holiday that broadens their mins what is wrong with that?
On the other side of the coin if people get a fine in order to save vast sums of money then aren't they still quids in if they pay the fine? Why do they let it go all the way to court then moan about much it is?
There is no way these brats can all be doctors and lawyers.
It is about time that we form career oriented guilds, with high recruitment standards. Once in a guild, the training process will eliminate weak candidates, who will be put back in the general pool of unskilled labour. If they cannot accept this, they are encouraged to emigrate to other countries, or be placed on compulsory organ transplant donor lists.
Bad plumbers and bad lawyers should be placed on donor lists or just executed if they are really bad. People on the donor list can study hard and get off the donor list.
I remember back in my childhood, my parents asked for me to be excused for three or four days before the summer holidays began. My form teacher laughed and said "The headmaster will never allow it." A day later he hands me a letter granting it.
I lost out on three or four days of school. Not actual learning as the final week consisted mainly of showing videos and other (relatively) fun stuff.
I certainly agree that parents being able to pull their children out of school whenever they want is bad but if the headmaster agrees it's OK and the child is otherwise performing well, why not?
It would seem to me that the government is no longer fit for purpose, it doesn't represent the opinion of the country.
Why dont they just take the kids off as "sick" ??
