You need a specific programme that allows you to write in the document, and that costs. Cute pdf and Adobe reader are not the same thing.
Or you can allow the hand to select the text, and paste into word, and track changes etc. The downside to this is that it can be a formatting nightmare.
Why don't you ask for the original word version to be shared with you?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Unfortunately there aren't any word documents. My son can not write but he is able to type. We are doing lots of mock GCSE papers and I'm getting fed up of scribing for him lol
I remember sending someone a form which was in PDF format and I was really surprised, she managed to edit it for a typed reply rather than a handwritten document that I was expecting. I asked her how she did it and she said she didn't really know as someone did it for her!
She definitely didn't pay for any software.0 -

She may not have paid for it but either the someone who did it paid or they had access to software that had been paid for by someone else. I can do it as my employer has Acrobat Pro which allows editing of PDFs.

Thank you for the link.
We are nearly through his GCSE's but I will subscribe or buy a similar package so that he can do all his own mock papers for his A levels.
I haven't enjoyed all this scribing, but I've certainly learnt a lot about physics, biology and chemistry....0 -
PDF-XChange Viewer have a typewriter function that enables text to be typed on PDF documents. It does not allow editing of a document but text can be typed on a document and saved. It's freeware - https://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-viewer0

Brilliant. That sounds perfect.
Thank you.0 -

I just clicked onto the link. It isn't freeware. There is a charge - only 38 dollars but there doesn't seem to be a 'free trial' or any feedback as to whether it is any good or not.
I think I'd like a free trial first.0 -
It's free but with a few features unavailable, the typewriter function is available with the free version.
There is a new product PDF-XChange Editor - https://www.tracker-software.com/product/pdf-xchange-editor -this has more features than PDF-XChange Viewer, as with Viewer advanced features are not available.0 -

Thank you.
I have just actually found that I can edit pdf docs - same sort of thing (typewriter sort). There was a button on the side which said Edit and Fill and it worked.
Can't believe how many hours I've spent scribing when I didn't have to!0 -
Office 2013 and 2016 both allow import of a pdf into Word.0
