Car Insurance for my twin boys.

Hello,
I wonder if there is anybody out there who can give me some advice.
My twin boys are due to buy and share a car.
My idea is that one of them owns the car and is the main driver on a policy with the other twin included on the policy as a named driver. Is this the easiest/cheapest way around this as we do not want two cars and two policies.

Yes that is the way to do it.
It may be cheaper to also add another named driver who is mature with a clean record (even if they would never actually drive the car)0 -
Just insure one of them, if they crash they can just say they are the insured one... They are identical aren't they
**disclaimer this is a joke and is in no way serious advice**0 -
Adding a grandparent not a parent made it cheaper for my daughter.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Of course the downside of having one as main driver is that they get to build up NCD whereas the other doesn't (other than possibly named driver NCD so long as eventually they take out insurance with same company). Perhaps they need to alternate each year so they build it up evenly (I think most companies will allow NCD from up to 2 years previous to still count). Mind you this route does mean that the premiums won't go down as quickly as in year 2 main driver would/could have no NCD.
Quite a tricky problem you have in trying to keep things fair.0 -
Surely the main driver has to be whichever mainly uses the car? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

So year one would be flip a coin and heads win or lose one gets to build a NCB, if that one twin then uses less than the other then swap it round on year 2 and so on and so forth.
Another Option would be get two cars and insure them on a multicar policy and both earns a NCB.0 -

.
Surely that would depend on circumstances, which we don't know?
Equal share doesn't mean identical use pattern. We are always warned to be very careful about having a young driver use a car for work or college if someone else is named as the main driver. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Some insurers let named drivers accrue a no claims bonus, NFU Mutual and Liverpool Victoria did for me.0
