Parking ticket on side road in front of clearway end sign?

Hope someone can help please. I got a parking ticket on a side road with contravention 46 - stopped on a clearway. It is a short side road on a dead end street in front of an 'end of clearway' sign. The traffic sings manual states ... "The restriction applies
to the main running carriageway, slip roads and any
acceleration and deceleration splays included in the
order. It does not apply to verges, footways, lay-bys
and other highway areas".

There's a dropped kerb to the right, but it's an entrance to a building that's being demolished and it completely fenced off, there is a pedestrian dropped kerb further up.
Do you think that I have a chance to win the challenge?
Thanks for any help.

I can't access your photo's but if you are parked between the carriageway where the clearway applies and the end of clearway sign you are in contravention of it.
Clearways generally extend around 10 metres into any side roads.
We have a tram system in Sheffield (all of it clearway) and loads of people fall foul of the law by parking up to the corner and end up with the dreaded yellow ticket.0 -
You would do well to post on pepipoo forum about this:

They deal with more Council PCNs than we tend to, with great success.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This isn't always the case.
In the town where I work there is a stretch of road that is a clearway. As you approach the town centre, there is a left turn which goes down to the hospital with its usual expensive car park. Just prior to this is a right turn which goes on to a housing estate which of course attracts people who want to park for free and visit the hospital. The 'Clearway Ends' signs were a good 30+ feet in to this side road and sometimes people made the mistake of parking between the sign and the main road, and ended up getting ticketed. However one day somebody did their homework and decided to challenge it in court. The result was that the regulation in place for this particular clearway did not extend to the side road, and the appeal was upheld.
Unfortunately the council remedied this by painting yellow lines (with the appropriate regs in place of course) between the main road and the clearway ends sign.0 -

There can always be exceptions which is why I used the term "Generally".
And it's always worth checking pepipoo as there are plenty of reasons why the ticket may not be valid:D0 -
Hey, thanks for the responses, I've put a thread up on pepipoo but no response as yet. If you have a minute to spare you could have a look at the photos here...forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=106433[/url]
(I just put a space in the links as it wouldn't let me post them.)
Thanks again0 -

The reason they have added no more is because you haven't posted BOTH SIDES of the PCN yet. Yes, the back, yes the small print.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
