Whilst it can't do everything some of the pricier tablets do the Kindles (other than those purely sold as ereaders, such as the paperwhite) are actually pretty handy. You can surf the web, take pictures, download and watch videos, bbc iPlayer, access your e-mail etc.

The kindle fires are (i believe anyway) actually tablets - although as you say, still with limited capability.
I was more just pointing out that comparing it to an ipad would be like comparing a camera to a video camera. Some of their functions/abilities may overlap but they're not the same product.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
The item in question is a Kindle Voyage, which is their ereader, not any of the Kindle Fire tablet ranges ( I do wish Amazon hadn't called their tablets 'Kindle' also, it causes so much confusion)
