This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone.
The sun has been shining for about an hour already, so another lovely day in store I think.
I'm off up to Oban later this morning for a meeting and a visit to the building society. There will be some shopping to do as well, though mostly veggies this time.
Speky - I hope that the funeral is as good as it can be. I'll be thinking about you.
Happy Thursday everyone.0 -
Morning All
I've been awake since 4.20 - the house alarm went off. Went down to turn it off, got to the top of the stairs and the same thing happened. There must be something going on as the whole area had various alarms going off. It went off again at 5.45, hoping that's the last or it will be a long day for the neighbours!
Got the hedge at the front cut last evening, next door neighbour did hers too while I had the hedge trimmers out so all that is looking very smart. It was so hot out there the sweat was trickling down my back (charming!).
Speky - Thinking of you today.
Have a nice weekend away nmlc, hope the weather holds for you.
Hope DDs rash has subsided RR.
Lainey - Hoping Bill improves soon.
Have you dried out yet AOD?
Towels on the line, just going to make a salad for lunch. Hoping it's not too hot at the hospice later. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning all, thank you Gers for starting us off
A little cooler so far this morning. We only had a little rain late yesterday afternoon, but it was so humid. I had all the windows open trying to create a through draft. The cat had an upset tummy and I think it was the heat, so kept her quiet and didn't give her anytthing to eat, although her biscuits were there if she wanted them . She is an indoor cat so I am not worried she had picked anything up.
My new TV unit arrived yesterday, all the way from Cornwall. It is lovely, I am very pleased with it. I have my eye on a console table now in the same design.:):)
We are popping into town this morning. I ordered a couple of tops from De*enhams and they are ready to be collected. I think Himself wants to have a look in Po*ndland, it is like an Alladins cave to him. We will drop DGD off at work on the way.
Have a good day all

Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Speky - hope everything goes as well as these things can x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now ready and off to work. DS2 still in his pit will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.
Now light, very cloudy and overcast here, the air is much cooler too, so not sure what the weather will do here. Think there's a mixture of sunshine, showers and cloud forecast.
Dinner last night was smoked sausage, bacon and mushroom pasta, chocolate brioche for dessert for those that wanted some. Tonight's dinner I'm not sure about, but I'm going shopping later so will organise something then.
I'm now on days' off, but have to go into work today for training, once I get back from that, I'll be going into town to visit the building society and then food shopping. I'll need to get some ironing done and packing ready for going away tomorrow. I need to run the hoover over etc also. So a fair size "to do" list to have a go at.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all. Another misty and humid start here. We almost had rain yesterday - it fell 3 miles away, or so someone in Sainsbobs said! We drastically need a good downpour as it's now well over two weeks since we had any rain and the gardens are crying out for some.
We have the train trip to Leeds today for Mr TA's monthly appointment at the Oncology clinic at St James. We need to be on the 10.30 train so not too much of a rush. Though we need to rush back afterwards as we have the 3 DGDs here for tea, sleepover and school run tomorrow. We've had a reprieve from them over half term so it'll be a shock to the system!
Just need to pop into Argos before we head back home as I have reserved a new bedside clock radio (current one given up the ghost!) and a replacement hot air brush. I shall pay with the Nectar points I have accumulated so they won't cost me anything!
I was glad I made the effort to go shopping after all yesterday afternoon as Sainsbobs was really quiet and loads of ys stuff to be had! Quite a good assortment of veg, fruit, fish and bread stuff reduced (some more than others!) so that saved the follow on trip I usually make to Aldi.
Have a good day all and (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed. SPEKY I hope your gran's funeral goes as well as it can do today. Thinking of you. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning, yes thank you camelot, I have dried out though I had to get the hairdryer out before going to bed, I had my hair tied up in a knot and when I unwound it, it was still wet.
Looks as though it will be a dry day so towels are on the line.
I managed to get up at 3.30 by mistake, was halfway through a cup of tea before I realised that I'd misread the clock, thought it was 5.30. Now I have to stay awake through two meetings. It is my day off but one meeting is of special interest to me and the other us to help someone start doing something I do and is a new area of work for her.
Speky, thinking of you today.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -

Scampi was fab yesterday. We went to the forest but it was quite sunny and I was determined to stay in the shade, so we avoided the ponds and went to the enclosed arboretum instead – complete shade and so cool, it was lovely. He met a few dogs and people, he was great with them. If he'd been on the lead he'd have thrown a tantrum at every single one of them. He found a few big sticks but was particularly proud of a 6' long branch and trotted about with it in his mouth for a while
I missed a delivery, bit annoyed about that because I was supposed to get a text to let me know when it was arriving. I checked my phone and there was no text. I'll have to go to the delivery office to pick it up today.
It's nice and cool at the moment so I'm going to get the housework done early. Can't cope with it when it's too hot, I start wilting very quickly, lol. It's going to be warm but cloudy later, so will be muggy again. We'll pick up that parcel and pop to the garden centre, mr tru can buy whatever it is he wants to go there for (can't remember what he said!) while I take Scampi for a walk. Then we'll head home, he can sweat it out in the garden while I hide from the heat in the lounge – where I'll be lounging

Morning everyone,
Speky - thinking of you today X
TA - hope all goes ok with the appointment X
DD casually mentioned over dinner last night that she had no clean school blouses or underwear so cue two loads of washing being done at Benny Hill speed. The second load is on the airer, luckily most of the first load could be TD'd. I've just ironed her a blouse for today. I wouldn't have minded but DH was out (got in at 11pm) and I was was on double youth club duties so was out until 9.45pm myself urghhhh.
Gym this morning then on to the charity for a four hour stint. Lots of envelope stuffing going on at the moment - not at all taxing but a bit dull!
Will need to pick up some veggies on the way home. Last night we had sausages, mash, cauli and peas. Not sure what's on the menu tonight but I popped to Costco on Monday and bulk bought steak mince, chicken thighs and breast and Scandi meatballs which are all portioned up in the freezer. May go for spaghetti and meatballs as its quick. DD has rugby training later - luckily no Rainbows (she's a volunteer there) so we don't have too much of a rush.
Have a good day all

Morning all,
Bit dull here this morning but I think it will be one of those muggy but overcast days.
Off to work for me but I need to nip out this afternoon for a funeral, its my best friends from primary schools mum who died, we have lost touch over the years but I have fond memories of her mum and she was still friends with my mum who is going to the funeral as well.
Specky I hope all goes well for you today xx
Something and chips for dinner, will go and look in the freezer after this, I need to do a wash tonight too.
Camelot dd's rash id completely gone ! it was really strange !
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Dull and overcast here but the sun is meant to be putting in an appearance later so fingers crossed.
Last day at work today before our holiday in Somerset, OH will go and pick Mum up after her hair appointment ready for an early start tomorrow morning. Will need to go to W8rose for some last minute bits but will check first to see what Mum had brought with her. The food is her contribution so doubt there will be much missingWhen we were kids and money was SOO tight we always had self-catering hols in this country and Mum collected bits up over months to make sure we had treats etc. She has always been very OS, out of necessity and now because she values her money so won't waste it. Like to think am chip off old block but whereas she is Champions League I am more Div 1 :rotfl:
Will pop over to see Bill later, the yard obviously know I am away for week and will make sure he is well cared for.
Speky hope all goes as well as possible for you and your family today x
Have a good day all, take care folks x0
