Hi,
you might need to make sure that the outgoing port number is set to 587. You should have been getting error messages saying this. Check out http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA010936921033.aspx for more detailed information.
I can also recommend the following:
Thinkbroadband forum for AOL http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk
and
Windows Live Mail for your desktop - works on XP and Vista and has all the settings for the main webmail providers preset. http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas0 -
Yes, see the AOL resolution at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;299282im doing this so i can help her with remote assistance but not sure i can do that on aol?? any one know
However the easiest way is to install Windows Messenger on both machines and use that to send the remote assistance invitation - see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3065560 -
hi i have tried to use the remote assistance with the messanger workes until it trys to connect and then it says that she has closed down her remote assistance which she had not done anything0

Your sister has to invite you first via Windows Messenger and then you accept the invitation. She should follow the 2nd link I posted above and you should follow this link - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306800
Are either you or your sister using routers? If so, you both may need to open port 3389 on the router to incoming connections.
Post the exact message if still no joy.0 -
thanks chippy i will give it a try

how do you open port 3389 on the router
ive used remote assistance with no trouble from downstairs to upstairs my sister uses aol wireless so perhaps its hers that is the problem
great emails in and out now working thanks0 -
What's the make and model of the router?
Depending on the router, clicking http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 may get you into the router configuration. It asks for a username and password (for a Netgear try admin and password) - or read the manual or visit the maker's website and download it.0
