I hope you will be prepared for the invoice.
Alternatively, could you purchase the total land from the executor of the will/estate.

Thank you, yes we could buy the property at a very reasonable price but we are not in a position to do this financially.
As already mentioned I am only trying to find out the legal time scale for leaving and should we be given termination in writing.

Well for starters I would tell the property developers to sling their hook unless they can produce paperwork to show they have rights to be on the property.0

How about getting together with another tenant to buy it.

Both in our early sixties now, we would need to be in it for the long haul so neither of us wish to commit.0

As I said this sounds to me like it was an informal tenancy that both parties agreed to so in this case I would say it's a tenancy at will which gives both parties to right to end the tenancy with very short notice.
For proper advice though take your contract to a commercial solicitor and show them it, they are in a better position to advise you than any one here.0
