Well as some of you are aware I did get to my debt free date and was debt free :T
Have not been here in a while as I am now totally ashamed as it only lasted for about....... wait for it....... about a month
Kept giving in too much. Totally lost my way, got a 0% Credit card till Xmas, the one and only good thing about it. and that got up to £4800  .
Did have to get an intergrated cooker and had been without a shed since we moved in, there were also other expences that were expected too within that amount, but then hubby and I just kept on treating ourselves and the kids too as we had not had anything extra for years. I had 3 weeks of the summer holidays off and it just kept going up and up, we were out every single day, not every day cost money but it soon adds up. We did more with the kids within those 3 weeks than the last 4 years at least
Have now got back to being obsessed about money, well the not spending it part anyway :T , but I feel like a complete failure yet again.
I feel totally responsible, we are supposed to be using the card for monthly food ans petrol spends and Ideally have the money already sat in savings to pay it every month when the statement is sent out.
I am not looking for sympathy or support I have done this and I am totally ashamed, not even sure I have the right to come back anymore now.
Sorry for my rant. I feel so totally let down..... by myself.
Just wanted to let those of you that know me that I hadn't deserted you because I had become debt free, just felt too ashamed to return.

You know I have really missed you all. and I have been here keeping up to date, but just not posting.
Congratulations for today, IA :T :T :T Well done, I hope your proud of yourself0 -
Maybe once it is paid off, you need a complete period of not having any temptation - trying to pay off once a month may be taking a step too far this early on.
I am sure you will get that debt back down fairly soon though xSuccessful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Don't beat yourself up, we all do stupid things with money we regret. I vowed to leave university completely debt-free, I lived at home so could easily survive on my part time earnings.
Guess what? 3 years and a graduation later I have squandered my entire £9,000 loan on stuff
I have spent months feeling guilty, ashamed, stupid and being totally depressed and often tearful about the situation.
However, I have now learnt that being positive and enthusiastic about the challenge of going debt-free is so much more productive.
I have only joined this forum for about 4 weeks, and have made more extra money and spent less than ever
I know you feel really bad, but why not throw yourself whole-heartledly into the challenge, feeling bad will achieve little.
You've gone debt-free once, you can do it again :A:eek: Total debt £21,000 :eek:Weight loss to date - 2 st, 2lb:j0 -
OK, deep breath. How much have you spent and how much do you have towards paying it back?
You say you have blown out because of not having anything for 4 years so don't go and get rid of your treats budget.
As IA said, when the 0% runs out, get another. Not the best situation but certainly not the worst. You've got out of debt before so you can do it again.
Once this lot is clear you will need to write yourself a revised budget to include frivolous spends and some savings for the next big purchases.

Thank you for your both kind and inspiring words.
The Card is now at around £2800 and by 24th Sept we should have around £2,100 to pay off it due to selling some unwanted items and cutting costs again, I know that sounds amazing and that It should (all being well) be gone at the end of oct or nov at the latest, but my bigest problem is that I feel..... well...... lost when we do not have debt to be worring about. We have been together 10 years this week, married 9 years on the same day and for the 1st time ever we celebrated out with the kids. I have never had savings and it feels a bit strange to me really.0 -
Hi Silkglade....
Don't worry too much about the relapse, it happens to a lot of us.... I got a 0% card and put nearly £600 on it
U were really focused to clear ur debt last time, I'm sure u can do it again.... at least its 0% atm!
Good Luck :grouphug:

Edit - I got another CC today  RSPCA, £20.50 from Quidco
Did just spend £45 on it.... but it was nappies, wipes and toiletries from Boots (10 pts to every £1!, and it will be paid off when we get paid on Fri)
As Hypno said, if u don't feel disciplined enough to pay it off each month, try going without them totally for a few months.

hi silkglade
I think the bit I've highlighted is really important.... what you seem to be saying is that you miss having the definite goal of moneysaving and debtcrunching. So, think about it - whats your goal? It might be a thing, or a long term move, or a fantastic holiday every year, or to fix your teeth, whatever, it doesn't matter. But you sound like you really need to establish your priorities in your life, and then what your goals are resulting from those priorities. And as somebody earlier has said, definitely don't eliminate your treats budget, you pushed too hard the first time around and fell off the wagon as a result. You haven't fallen *far*, you know, you're fine - but its a warning to take notice of, that much is true!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thank you so much for your words of encouragement and understanding. I really did not expect this much support from you all. Really I have to say I felt I deserved a kick up the back side.
I know that you are right about the treats budget, we actually don't have one at all!!! . Think that is proobably why we came unstuck. I will make sure there is one starting from payday on 24th Sept. :T. Thank you for that advice.0 -
Silkglade, don't lose sight of the fact that you are still an inspiration to those of us just starting out dealing with our debts.
