Debt sold

Hi,
I am paying off two old debts , one which has been sold to Lowells and another which is with Wescott. I originally thought that the Wescott one had been sold, but i have noticed that they've just been instructed by HSBC to recover the debt rather than them buying the debt.
My questions are
1 - How long will it be before my monthly payments to Lowells appear on my report as nothing is appearing yet?
2 - Do i need to contact HSBC to tell them that i am paying off the debt? Wescott aren't appearing as a default on my account, but HSBC still are. I obviously want that account to show that I am now making efforts to pay off the debt.
Thanks

You can request a copy of the deed of assignment from any debt firm and if they fail to produce one, they are a third party interloper and can on;y beg money from you.I do Contracts, all day every day.0

So what does that mean in terms of my questions?
1- How long does it usually take positive notes of payment take to appear on my file and
2 - is it necessary to contact HSBC to let them know payments are being made as it appears Wescott are just acting on their behalf?
additional - if i request a deed of assignment for Wescott and they are just a third party interloper, should i stop paying Wescott and pay HSBC direct?0
