It seems there are many discounts available for 16-25 and Friends and Family Railcards.
But wonder why the Seniors are not so privileged.
Can a member of the Research team Blagg one for us oldies ?

If you'd followed the article link in a post just below yours
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5475780
you;d have found a 10% off one
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-coach-train-ticket-deals#senior10
also you can get one for £15 in Tesco Clubcard vouchers
https://secure.tesco.com/clubcard/boost/1-year-senior-railcard/UK-002023.prd
Reading that link I see that it states that to buy one you need either a passport or driving licence. As a non-driver who's commuted by train in the UK for much of my life and doesn't possess a passport , that's a bit annoying to say the least!.0 -

That's only online - at a station other forms of id/proof of age can be used0 -
I think it's also worth pointing out that if you have a choice between a Senior Railcard and a Disabled Persons Railcard, the latter is better VFM. It's cheaper (or was last time I looked) and also allows you to buy a ticket at the same price for a companion travelling with you (even if you don't need to be accompanied).
Take a look here to see if you're eligible.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I'm not very knowledgeable here- don't have such a thing -but I know that my friend bought hers valid for 3 years which worked out a lot cheaper than the annual one. I'm pretty sure that had to be purchased online.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I always buy a three year senior railcard online. I think it was £70 which as the previous poster said, is a lot cheaper than the annual version, and I've never been able to get a cheaper deal than that. I don't use Tesco so don't get any vouchers.0

There's 20% off for another 6 days, apparently:-

Edit: The 20% off may only be for the annual card, looks like the 3-year one is still £70......0 -
Don't forget that if you use an Oyster card you can get it linked to your Senior rail card, which makes for cheaper tube travel.
You have to get it done by a member of staff at the tube station but mine only took a minute.
If you buy an annual rail card, eg by using Tesco points, then you have to redo it each year with the new card.0
