Section 75 - grey imports?

Hi everyone, hope you are all well :)

I have just purchased a Phantom 3 Professional drone from a website called SLRhut.co.uk

I'm usually so cautious about buying large value items online, particularly from a company that I have never used before. I guess my excitement of the price got the better of me and I ordered with them.

Turns out they aren't a UK company, I believe they are in the US, so this will be a grey import. I have spoken with SLRhut and they are responding very quickly and are being helpful, but it's too late to cancel order.

One good thing about this, I paid using my credit card. So my question is, does section 75 cover grey imports? I really hope it does, just in case something does go wrong! :(

so this will be a grey import.
The concept of a "grey import" only applies when a manufacturer attempts to control who can distribute its products within a country. I can't imagine that the Chinese manufacturer of your drone has any such concerns.

I know somebody that bought from them without difficulty, so perhaps all will go smoothly.

S75 still applies - the CC is jointly liable for breach of contract or misrepresentation. However bear in mind that breach/misrep is probably in the context of local legislation so whereas UK law implies certain terms into a UK contract (eg fitness for purpose), this may not be the case with the contract you have entered into.

OP - have you clarified issues in relation to import duties, vat etc., not soemthing section 75 related but may impact on the price you've paid or your budget.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

I have to say I am feeling a lot happier. I contacted DJI themselves and gave them the web address of where I bought the product and that it was imported from the USA. They told me not to worry and that the warranty is still valid in the UK. That's put my mind at ease!
