You can still ask your bank for a chargeback, it's not as strong as Section 75 protection offered for credit cards, but from what you've described, your bank should side with you.0

when i phoned up to ask them if they were registered with a redress scheme the lady there didnt understand what i was talking about, no change there then! Would this stand up in a small claims court as i really dont think she has understood all along - she kept saying 'yes ok' to my sons refusal to pay for the week he wouldnt be there but then in the next breath she said 'but you have to pay from the 6th' - im pretty tenacious so am prepared to take this 'to the wire', have also contacted trading standards but will definitely report them to their local council and send a letter before action. my son has contacted his bank and explained and they said they will do what they can but no guarrantee

i contacted the ombudsman and they are definitely not registered with a redress scheme which is illegal but the ombudsman said that if they register now they will not consider any complaints which pre-date the registration - i really wonder what is the point of them being registered then!!!0 -
the bank have replied to say this is nothing to do with them and they wont help us0

It's a criminal offence for a letting agent not to be a member of a redress scheme.
A local council can issue a fixed penalty fine of up to £5000 to a letting agency branch that is not a member of a scheme. Letting agents with multiple branches could face multiple fines.
Contact your local council if an agent isn't registered with a scheme. It can investigate and prosecute agencies who haven't signed up to a scheme.
However this is a criminal matter.
To get your money back you'll need to start a civil action as well, via moneyclaim online.
But please do both as fraudsters like this need to understand they cannot flout the law.0 -
Hello ashpan, your post looks very interesting as me and my girlfriend are currently sharing a flat under Radley Stone ltd. They are acting like they are hiding something to us. We dont know who is the landlord, we dont know if they are registered to any redress scheme and which scheme our deposit is assigned to. Also, checking various facebook profiles, we found that this couple, both italians, spend our moneys travelling the world (they left a facebook review in Belize on the 24th of november) while we strive to get replies from them for many house problems such as leaking bath, unworking dryer and mice infestation. We are almost sure that they are illegally subletting the flat without landlord knowledge and permission. We are interested in keepin in touch to know your story. Waiting for an answer

I can't help with the rest of the post, but I've had problems with mice in the past, I just put loads of mouse traps down (plastic ones I bought on amazon, reasonably priced but easy to reset - not all of them are, avoid wooden mouse snap traps).
I managed to get rid of two mice infestations using them. Not pleasant but I didn't fancy having a company coming in, putting poison down and having odorous mouse carcasses under the floor boards or where ever. Besides the fact that my LL wasn't exactly brill at doing anything I asked in the house lol. It was quicker to spend £20 on mouse traps.0 -
