    They also have a "It's OK to change your mind" returns policy. So if any customers are surprised to find they need to assemble the items then they can return them without a problem. (Perhaps part of the reason they are successful is they have a more enlightened attitude to customer service than some other companies.)

    The bit in bold gave me a chuckle. Ikea might be successful but its not due to good customer service - their ratings on more than a few sites vary from 1-2 out of 5.

    I'm pretty sure (could be wrong, I was very young at the time so didn't have experience of buying my own furniture) that Ikea gained success as selling furniture much cheaper than their competitors - just the drawback was it being flat pack (which was not all the rage like it is post-ikea).

    Perhaps not then. However they do seem to have a better return's policy than the op's supplier.

    I think in the UK it was MFI (now defunct) that pioneered flat pack ("for your convenience"!) in the UK, at least in scale and at low prices. I think Ikea's offering was seen as more modern/stylish than MFI (and perhaps other flat pack retailers).

    Sent a letter to the MD of AHF about the issue about the wardrobes. Still waiting for any response.

    Got home tonight to discover that the stitching on one of the sofa's back cushions has totally split. Not what I expect after less than 7 days normal use and a £2500 + spend in their store.

    Any advice on how to handle this new issue at the same time as the original one going through.
