Tax code

Hello All,

Apologies if this is not the right place for this.

I am trying to find out what tax code I should be on as my tax code looks incorrect.

I used to be on one tax code to allow for professional union fees up to £192 and now I should be on that as well as marriage allowance.

Can anyone advise?

Thanks :)

What is your current tax code?

Have you not received a coding notice from HMRC?

It used to be 1192L and then I changed jobs.
In my new job it became 0T and then I requested and was approved for Marriage allowance on top but again this month it is still 0T

Sorry should have also put that haven't ever received anything from HMRC regarding tax code changes.
  • Did you hand your form P45 to your new employer?

No, I never got one! But when I spoke to the tax office in April they said that by May's wage, it would have been amended.

I take it there is no easy way to find out what a tax code would be if you have professional fees and marriage allowance in one go?

I don't get the 1192L. The personal allowance is 11000 which, when added to 192, makes 11192 or a code of 1119L. The marriage allowance would be added to this.

If the marriage allowance is added the allowances become 12292 - a code of 1229L

You already had £920 extra personal allowance based on tax code 1192L but it isn't clear from your posts as to why.

I'm probably remembering incorrectly! All I know is that it was to the value of £192 for the union fees.

So I assume then there is a tax code for £12192?

    Thank you :)

    £11,000 + £192 + £1100 = £12,292 so code 1229L

I think I had just forgotten off the top of my head - it was 1119L by the looks of it!
