Comparison site confusion

I am with British Gas for dual fuel on a fixed tariff . BG have given me a new quote which saves £50 per year. I decided to look at a comparison site and used Uswitch with my annual kw usage.
This gave me 3 results which offered to save me from £209 to £704 per year!
Unfortunately when I looked at the figures the BG yearly cost was less than all 3 quotes!!
This is most confusing and presume Uswitch quotes are based on going to a standard tariff at the end of the fixed deal.
If this is the case, what a waste of time and totally useless.

Hi - welcome to the forum. Comparison sites are required to use this methodology. What you want is an annual cost comparison. You can get this by using the following sites amongst others:
MSE CEC
theenergyshop.com
Energy helpline.com
To get an accurate comparison you must use kWhs/year and not £s. To get the cheapest energy, look at separate suppliers for your gas and electricity.0 -
Do not look at savings but compare what you are paying per year now compared to what the new tariff charges per year. I recommend not using USwitch as you can only use the OFGEM mandated comparison method. MSE CEC and EnergyHelpline both allow comparison with current tariff price.0
