Help to Buy & Shared Ownership

Hi All,

Apologies if this has already been asked/it's in the wrong forum.

When I signed up for the Help to Buy ISA as I was informed that as long as the property I'm buying is under the threshold it would be valid. I also checked that if I was buying a shared ownership it would be ok if the value of the property was above but the share purchased was below below the threshold.

However, since then I have purchased a shared ownership property and the value of the whole property is above the threshold, but the share I have got is way underneath. I claimed the money (£500) through my solicitors but they have since heard that because the value of the whole property is above the threshold that I can't keep the money.

Could someone just confirm that I am not eligible for the H2B money as I would have expected the solicitors to have flagged it up before they sent off the application and obviously I would like to keep the £500 if I can!

Thanks,
J
