I noticed today that British Gas had increased my monthly DD by 25% (from £154 per month to £192.34) despite my last statement being in credit.
It was immediately reduced to £143 per month.
Lucky I noticed it! How many more people out there have not????

Dotty - welcome to the forum. All suppliers are required to review DD payments with the aim of a zero balance at the end of the contract period. In most cases that appear on this forum, the problem is that the re-assessment is based on incorrect information as the customer has failed to provide frequent actual meter readings. A credit or debit balance is also meaningless unless it is based on a bill using an accurate meter reading: even then, it is only accurate for the day on which the bill was raised.
If you want to find the best deal, then carry out a comparison using your projected annual consumption in kWhs not £s.I am with two suppliers and I get accurate monthly bills because I provide the suppliers with up to date meter readings once per month. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
