Postgraduate loan and benefits calculation

Hi,
I am looking at completing a Masters degree. I work full-time but i can apply for a Postgraduate loan of up to £10,000 to pay the fees. gov.uk says that the DWP will take the loan in to account when 'working out benefits' (i presume what me and my partner receive for our children, for example). Does anyone have advice on this? I'd hate to take out the loan then they stop our child tax etc.
Thanks in advance.
