PPI Claim, Alliance & Leicester and Egg.

Hi all
I've finally decided to try and claim or see if I had PPI on previous credit cards.
My only issue is both cards were with companies that no longer exist. Can anyone get me started? I know I had PPI on an Alliance & Leicester credit card that actually lead to me receiving a bad credit rating because the payment kept on going after i'd closed the credit card. Do I approach Santander?
The second was a credit card with Egg from around 2003 and no idea where to start with that one.
Has anyone had experience with either of these?
Any help much appreciated.

PPi on a CC is charged on any outstanding balance. Did you not pay off the balance on the card before "closing" the account?I know I had PPI on an Alliance & Leicester credit card that actually lead to me receiving a bad credit rating because the payment kept on going after i'd closed the credit card0 -
