AA renewal annoyance
I know I know.. Its a well known issue but I thought I'd try anyway.
Joined AA last year. Cost me about £22 with cashback and some offer. Most basic package. Thats all I want, someone to come out and get me going if I ever break down. 5 year old car. Never (touch wood) broken down yet.
Renewal came through the post. £55. But I'm now a Silver member (Wooo!) Although having a read, that doesn't seem to give me anything except a shiny card and 'unlimited callouts'
So I checks, and with cashback as a new member I can get RAC for about £25 and Green Flag for about £20.
So I phones up the AA and explains that unless they can improve the price, I wish to leave.
Instantly I'm given a new price of £39.
Better I say, but I can get RAC for xxx so unless the AA can come under £35 I'd probably still switch. I'm told that £39 is the lowest price possible for AA cover. A new member would pay this.
So, as I'm on the phone.. I go the the AA website and see "BASIC BREAKDOWN COVER £25"
I point that out and the lady says "yes but thats not Silver membership. You won't get unlimited callouts"
I point out that I don't want the silver membership or the unlimited callouts, I'd just like Basic Membership (what I signed up to last year) and pay £25.
"Sorry, I can't do that" says she.
Fair enough. Bye bye AA.
