Would anyone be able to tell me how I can go about a PPI reclaim on a store card I had in the 1990's. I don't have the account number. Any guidance gratefully accepted, have been thinking about going to a reclaim company as not sure how to do this.
Thanks in advance.

You would need to write to the lender you think you had the account with.
Only use a claims company if you feel you have too much money and would only need half of any payout.0 -
For store cards from the then Arcadia Group of stores (Burtons, DP, TopShop, Debenhams, etc), you can call the Santander PPI team who are helpful and can often provide account numbers by searching on your name and address.

The Santander > FOS route is currently proving successful. Failing that, Genworth the underwriter (address on the link, which you may have to Google as sometimes it won't open from here). Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.0 -

Your chances are high if it was mis sold.
They are low if it wasn't.0 -
You have to have some proof that it was miss sold.
It is not a reclaim, it is a complaint.
Good luck, i think, from that far back, you are going to need it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Store card PPI is like credit card PPI - it would appear on your statement as a separate line item every month where you were charged (when you didn't pay off the balance in full) and you would have ticked a box or signed to say you were ok with it in store. You'd need to establish if you had it before complaining about it.Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
