Credit check from landlord- debt management plan

Hi
I wondered if anybody could help me. I'm having a terrible time right now as I have just spilt up with my wife and urgently need to find another place to live.
We currently privately rent and there has never been a late payment or missed one. I also own a house 200 miles away which I rent out and the mortgage has never been late or missed in the 10 years I've owned it.
My situation is I am on a debt management plan and my noddle credit score is 1 (530) which I think is the lowest. I have no bankruptscy, IVA, CCJ etc just defaults and a payment plan.
I have to fork out over £200 for credit checks to rent a flat and my question is - will I pass one?
I really do not know what I'm going to do if I can't get credit to rent.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Not all agents/landlords do credit checks. If you need to pay a fee ask the agent what it covers before you hand the money over.
Would you be able to pay 6 months rent upfront? That is another potential option.0 -
Hi
They have already said I would need to spend £200ish pounds on credit referencing.
And sadly no way I could fork out 6 months rent in advance. I will struggle to scrape together the deposit, rent and credit checks for the first month. After that when I'm no longer paying rent and all the bills on wife's house things will get much better.

Given you're a LL, it's surprising you don't know this, but I suppose you may not do credit checks.
LAs and LLs only have access to public information. There is no 'universal' credit check, call it a affordability check if you prefer.
Since there's a chance your property will be sold as part of the divorce it would only be fair to keep tenants appraised ( assuming you've been married over 3 years )0 -
Thanks Guest
Hopefully all will be ok then.
I use a letting agency and have rent on time insurance as I can't take the risk of not having the rent in the bank. So I don't know what is checked for as the agents do all of that.
The tenants will be safe - as the house is in my and parents name as I lived in it before I met my partner.
Thanks- much relieved now.0
