Oh I knew about free prescriptions in Scotland didn't realise you get glasses and eye tests free as well0 -

You get free eye tests but pay for your glasses unless entitled to a GOS(3)0

I think you can also get free eye tests and help towards glasses if you have certain medical conditions, you definitely can prescriptions.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0

You can get free eye tests if there's a relevant family history of glaucoma or if you're diabetic but the glasses voucher is reliant on being under 16, under 18 in FTE or being on certain (named) income based benefits.
The exact wording on both the optical and dental forms in Scotland is "in possession of a tax credit exemption card", not "has an award of tax credits". The writing isn't "small print" it's standard 12 point throughout the form and the form makes it clear that there's a fine attached and possibly criminal conviction if caught making a false declaration.0 -
I live in England. I have not paid for my eye test & glasses for the last 3 years, this may be because I have Glaucoma/Diabetes. ???
OK, so the fact is, I am not entitled to free NHS dental treatment, eye tests & glasses, simply because I was on WTC or earned less than £1600 per year. Other elements must be included.
I have never needed to claim this kind of help before so did not know how the system worked.
I get free Diabetes medicine, eye tests/glasses so just assumed other NHS services/help would be free too.
Well I have no choice but to pay. This will be really hard now as already struggling to keep head above water.
Anyway, thank for your help guys.
I have managed to get more help on here than direct from the help/call centers.
Thanks.0
