So the LL tried to skimp by not getting insurance, you wonder what the flat was like before the fire? maybe it is a good thing for the tenants?
typical anti LL rhetoric based on biased hot air.

if you read the thread properly you will see
    a) OP has LL insurance
    b) as stated in the links, not all LL policies cover alternative accommodation costs, indeed some insurers expressly exclude it just the same as your household policy may have exclusions re flooding risk

the main thing the OP is "guilty" of is being someone who cannot use google for himself to fill in gaps in his legal knowledge (and therefore is obviously not a member of a LL association, although not a crime in itself of course!)

Unless your tenancy agreement is very badly drafted it is highly unlikely you are liable for rehousing....

    Have you checked the wording??

    Hi

When we had a fire our landlord was completely useless and was not contactable for days. However, we paid for the first nights (as it was late on a sunday and I had an exam the next day and nearly had to go hospital!) and then our contents insurance paid for 5 weeks of accommodation. they didn't even pursue the landlords insurance

    Paid off all Catalogues 10.10.2014
