I'm pretty sure it's water, CIS.

That's probably the most common that people mention to me - the water companies don't mess around when it comes to applying for a CCJ.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Yup. They sent me a warning last year when I wasn't actually in arrears. We pay in advance here or something, which is stupid. The first CCJ was for £189 and most of that would have been the court charges I'd imagine. They must catch a lot of people out :(

    Thank you :) (beer)

Did you read the thread, Thrugelmir? It wasn't my fault that I was unable to pay my water bill, I was unwell and having brain scans in hospital and drugs, lots of drugs. If the ex hadn't have stopped paying maintenance there would have been money in the account to cover it.

I have one credit card which is costing me a fortune and it's not maxed out. It's well managed, but I can't transfer the outstanding balance to one with a lower interest rate.

That was kinda his point. If you were to put there statement like that in there as notice of correction then, well, it would most likely just be ignored as they have no time, money or resources to verify every notice of correction like that. And if they were to take them at face value then anyone could put a story like that in there.

When I had a car accident and in a coma for several months, I defaulted many accounts due to the finance companies not dealing with my Mum (apart from 1 lovely company, sadly taken over by Santander). One company was even horrible enough to wait 18 months before defaulting me and so taking longer. I was recommended to put a NoC on explaining the circumstances and I had medical proof but never resulted in anything until they were off my file (which for the last evil company one is in 3 months time)
