I have purchased a Vodafone Mobile WiFi dongle which came loaded with credits which I have now used.
I wish to re-charge this - I obviously have the card it came with giving the telephone number - I have set up an online Vodafone account but to activate it is says it has sent me a code that I can not receive because I don't have a Vodafone phone (my network is O2).

Can someone please tell me how I can get hold of this code?

Why can't the code be sent to any mobile number? Id' be surprised if Vodafone restrict it to just phones on their network.

I would have thought the code will be sent to the dongle itself as a text message. The dongle will be running a webpage to allow you to access this.

    Hi aardvaak,

Please connect a PC to your mobile WiFi; once you've done this, you should be able to get access to the connection manager.

Connection manager will have the option to view any messages that have been sent to the device.

Once you've got the code, you'll be able to complete the set up for My Vodafone.

Please let me know how you get on.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

Just what I was going to suggest as I bought mine when I went away last summer, and didn't use it again until last month. I had completely forgotten my number, and the only way to get it was to plug the mifi in to my computer, then click on the wifi icon and connect. Even if there is no credit left on the mifi, it will let you connect so you can see all your details and how to top up.

Better still, unlock it for less than a Pound and then use it with the network that offers you the best service.
    Look here

Then you can pop one of these in: 3GB Data for up to 90 Days £9.99 or 12GB for up to 365 days £26.99

There's also the Three Data Reward offer, of 200MB/month free so long as a chargeable transaction is made once/6 months.
    http://www.three.co.uk/datareward
    Good for occasional usage.

It appears that you have a total inability to follow good advice.

Forget about it. It's too expensive

You can get much better value by simply unlocking the thing for less than a Pound.

But if you want to be pig headed,...there is no need to install software and connect. You simply didn't understand the advice given....mainly because it was rubbish.

She meant connect via WiFi as normal and then browse to http://VodafoneMobile.wifi or http://192.168.0.1 and sign in with admin:admin

Now you have access to SMS received. Now you can register for My Vodafone

Alternatively, you can buy a Data Pack via telephone
How to buy a data pack by phone

You can buy a data pack over the phone in three easy steps:
Call 03333 044 775 (standard call charges apply).
Key in your mobile broadband number (starting 07).
    Follow the instructions.

    Unlock the thing.....
