Are Subject Access Requests safe?

Hi people
I'm slowly educating myself to all the credit, fraud and related databases!
I'm wondering how safe it is when applying for loans, particularly mortgages, to do a Subject Access Request (SAR)? Will the mortgage company potentially see that you're snooping into your own history and get spooked?
I want to do an SAR to National Hunter: I don't mind the £10 fee BUT I don't want to scupper a future mortgage application!
Thanks for any help people!

Almost certainly not. They mortgage provider should not find about it.0 -
A SAR/DSAR request will not affect any credit application in any way.
No lender would be able to see a request made to a third party. They would only be able to see from their own systems should you have made the request from them directly.
Furthermore, a SAR request is not negative in any way, nor does it have any negative connotations attached to it.
Even if a lender did somehow find out you'd made a SAR request, this does not affect any application or lending and they would not view you as a customer in a different light because of it.0 -

However, with any of these companies, anything you give them will be held on file and used against you.
If you do a DSAR to NH, they will require 6 years of address history, and at least 2 proofs of ID, and a copy of your signature. They will also have your bank details from the cheque you send them.
They can and will keep those details on file and use them when trying to link anything else they can to you.0
