Hi I recently applied for a loan to buy a new car through car finance 24/7, however on checking my credit file I've noticed that 9 credit searches have been carried out, 2 by the same company, is thus fair as it gas really knocked my credit rating.

Yes. Their terms state that they'll farm you out to various lenders who will credit check you.

Expensive way of buying a car though, with a representative 25.8% APR.

Yes we've decided to give it a miss as the interest rate was so high but unfortunately with a less than perfect credit score my options are limited and I'm contactually obliged to have a car for work?

Try searching for Moneybarn, yes the rates are high though maybe affordable.
