Hello.
Has anyone ever been to spa before for the f1 race? Its my dad's 60th next year and we would like to go as a family. I've no idea where to start. Any websites anyone can recommend? Is it cheaper to fly than to get the ferry. Things like that!
Thanks

If you book it early enough you can get the Eurostar for as cheap as £58 return per person (I just happened to be looking at that earlier) Wednesdays seem to be a cheap day to go (also just what I happened to be looking at)0

Start by reading the forum over at F1 Fanatic

Be careful you don't book anything until the 2107 calendar has been confirmedChange is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

If you're in the south of England consider driving down, it's a lovely part of Belgium and the is easily accessible from the auto route.
There's also a holiday park 25 mins drive away, Sunparks Vielsalm, which makes a great weekend of it for the whole family.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Thanks for the suggestions.
LOL at 2107! I shld said it's a surprise as well!In debt no more!0 -
We went a few years ago, plenty of website with advice but what every method you go it wouldn't be cheap. Having your own transport would help, especially if there is a lot of you:
1: If you want a good view on race day you need a grand-stand seat, the general admission tickets are great, but even on Friday/Saturday the place is packed and you have to get there as soon as the circuit opens to get a good viewing position.
This was one of the hills accessible via general admissions on Saturday FP1, imagine how packed it’ll be on race day!!
Make sure you go for all 3 days, there are plenty of support races, and the general scenery is very pretty anyways.
Best grand stand seats are the first corner (Le Source), and Eau Rouge, but they sell out quickly. We were at Eau Rouge, seeing F1 cars take the corner flat out is something you just cannot get bored of!
2: Be prepared for the weather (and walking). Spa is in the middle of alot of trees, so the weather can change in an instant. We had sun, rain, wind, hail in the space of a 1hr GP2 session....It does make for some very exciting wheel-to-wheel racing. If you want to see all of the circuit you have to do a fair amount of walking, the changes in gradient make it harder than most other circuits, but the views are worth it.
3: There is very limited accommodation near Spa, so most people stay in Aachen or Liege. We stayed in Aachen for surprisingly little money (£60/night for 2+breakfeast), drove and the found the roads were very good. We had to que about 20 minutes to get into the circuit on race day and than again out, which wasn’t too bad at all. Both Friday and Saturday was fine.
You can take public transport but I have no idea how easy that it, but I know there is a near by train station and shuttle buses.
We drove from Aachen to Calais after the race in a little over 4hrs, dual carriageway all the way so pretty relaxed. Just make sure you stick to the speed limit, we say more than a few GB marked cars pulled over by the side of the road. The police there aren't stupid, they know people who go and see GPs may enjoy driving fast
.
4: Have fun!!!
We’ve been lucky enough to go to a few GPs, and Spa stands out. If you have the choice to only go to one GP ever, Spa would be at the top of my list. Make sure you stay for the track invasion at the end of the race!!
