Defo will apply for them. Should i apply before i quit my job?
I wonder before you quit the job, if it would be best to know what your income will be. The CAB should be able to give you a before and after benefit check - so you can check that the "after" income is OK.
There may be another option. I think you could reduce your hours to 16 and still receive WTC (as your partner is in receipt of PIP - http://revenuebenefits.org.uk/tax-credits/policy/policy_changes/current-policy/# Childcare element and carers). Might this be a possibility?
If this is possible it may be less of an income drop than claiming Income Support.
Again the CAB (or an benefit calculator) could give you an "after" income indication.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -
Gary..
would your wife be entitle dto any help from social services so that you could remain working? and if so is this a route you would prefer.
If you claim working tax credits your wifes DLA could allow you an extra amout of money but in my experience (i'm disabled and husband works from home and does a huge amount of care tasks) you would still need be entitled to 16 hour week unless you also have a disability.
As you are a carer you may find your local carers charity has a beneft advisor wh will visit you to discuss all this, or there might be a carers clinic at the library. It can in some areas be easier to get advice and info that way than waiting for hours in CAB.0
