Banks that allow opt out from contactless

Despite working in Information Technology, I've never been enthused by the idea of contactless payment on debit cards at least as apparently YOU have to bear the loss while any unauthorised transactions are investigated.

I've not had an issue but I decided to see if I could request debit cards without contactless.

I'm pleased to say the following three banks argeed with absolutely no argument whatsoever

first direct
Halifax
TSB

That contradicts everything I have ever been told.

    That's because it's incorrect.

I believe Nationwide do offer to not have it, a friend told me they insisted and got a card sent manually.

    Not really

Actually one may want to have just a single contactless card, this allows one to simply wave the wallet over the machine to make payment.

Now if I can just find a way to get the receipt to put itself in the wallet without opening it!

The can interfere with pacemakers. My Dad's cardiology consultant advised him he should request a non-contactless card. Glad he requested one, I'd rather be cautious and have him still alive.

Not that I want to question a consultants knowledge, but this doesn't seem right to me (as someone who studied electronics to degree level)

The card is unpowered, and power only by the electric field from the terminal, that field would be present with or without the card (it has to be or it couldn't recognize a card). The field if it was going to interfere with pacemakers would do so with or without a contactless card.

He's probably getting more interference from the magnet on his fridge door, than from a contactless card.

Yes but he doesn't keep the fridge door in the breast pocket of his shirt.
