Leak on overflow (twist to open plug type)

I currently have my bath panel off after discovering water dripping into my kitchen. The twist control for the plug is leaking, it is also loose so should of been a hint to me earlier. However the hole that contains the screw to hold the silver cover on appears to be empty. Is there a way to get this off to I can tighten everything up? Could do without needing to buy a hole new one but can't work out how to access this. Thanks in advance

    You say twist control is leaking - where? At the point it connects to the waste, ie the bit underneath the drain ?

    This screw that's missing, do you mean the screw you see when you look into the drain hole in the bath? The screw which keeps the drain hole (waste) fitting clamped to the bath?

    Could you take a photo?
  • It's the screw into the side of the twist control that we can't see. Not sure how to attach photo. It is leaking between the bath and the rubber on the overflow pipe on the side of the bath
  • UPDATE: We have hacksawed off a sectionto get a better view of inside. We have found the screw holding the cover in place is for a flat head screwdriver with not enough depth to gain any grip. However problem has been solved as the mechanism could by tightened to the bath by turning the rubber/plastic disk that we can now access. :beer:

    It's called a nut:A

    The OP was talking about a pop up release mounted to the bath, not the actual waste it's self.

    However, I can't imagine what a hack-sawed waste knob looks like,:eek::eek::A
    I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

    Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

    Wouldn't a strategically positioned mirror have given the same result?
