O/S Daily Sunday 5 June 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, dry underfoot and temperature has certainly lifted, nowhere near as chilly as it was during the week, and the blustery wind has died down.

DH and myself are up enjoying peaceful first cuppas of the day. Boys still in their pits. We are going to visit DH's grandfather first thing this morning, we want to make sure he's ok after the funeral this week.

I've got a joint of pork for lunch - so it'll be a late lunch that I'll prep and cook once we get back, I'll be doing all the normal trimmings with it, roasties, mash, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Dinner last night was gammon, egg, chips/jacket potato, peas and onion sauce.

Work yesterday was either manic busy or empty. Monday looks like it could be another busy day too. I had read some worrying news on F******k on Wednesday regarding a colleague from our main office, and had it confirmed yesterday that unfortunately they had collapsed at work and been rushed to specialist hospital but has sadly passed away - horrible shock for the family, friends and colleagues, so sad and a really lovely person that will really be missed.

Menfolk made a good start with the decorating but as it was still quite chilly here the paint wasn't drying that quickly, so they'll just keep going with it later today.

Have peaceful Sundays' everyone x

Keep safe and well x

Morning all. A scorcher forecast for today. Perfect!

We have a little guest today - we are looking after DS's little dog Roxy all day. It makes a change from looking after the DGDs! DS, partner and her boys are all going to Blackpool where they will spend most of the day in the Pleasure Beach. Paid for in advance as it saves a bit of money. I used to love it in there but, these days, they would have to pay me to spend a day in there!

DD and the DGDs have been at the caravan all week and, as is par for the course when she goes, there is another problem! This time with the electrics. This sounds to be something we won't be able to solve and will probably mean getting someone out to fix it. Mobile caravan service engineers don't know what to charge and I dread to think what it will cost. There's always something!

I have some nice pork loin steaks defrosting for lunch, which I will do with a mushroom sauce, baby potatoes and assorted veg. Followed by a slice of bakewell tart and custard for Mr TA and berries, yogurt and sugarfree jelly for me. My token gesture at eating sensibly!!

Have a nice day all (((HUGS))) where wanted/needed and take care. xx

    Morning All

Rubbish nights sleep for me, probably ate too much for dinner and I did have a couple of Pimms too so that probably didn't help.

Off to the Garden show today with a picnic, don't think it will be so hot over in the East but should be sunny anyway. As long as it stays dry it will be good.

Washing in the machine, that can go out when it has finished, house tidy and clean so all is well with the world!

JackieO - Your SIL is a gem, enjoy your new TV.
nmlc - Sorry to hear of your colleague.
TA - Hope you get your electrics sorted.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone.

Another beautiful day ahead I think. When I woke at half five it was misty outside but gradually the sun has burnt it off.

Yesterday seemed to be hazy most of the time but the heat was still fierce and mum and I sat out all day. After a wee break for fish and chips we sat out the front for the evening sun. Such a lovely day all round. I only did some online banking and emailing to keep me busy, most of the time I was reading or just sitting around.

Today I'm taking Mum back to Glasgow, we'll stop at Loch Fyne for a short while and then I'm dropping her at a friend' garden party before heading straight home. Another long day of driving then.

Camelot - I hope you enjoy the garden show, it sounds lovely.
TA - a furry visitor is just perfect for today, a good excuse (if one's needed) to get Mr TA out and about.

My sore thumb is almost healed, it's stopped being extremely painful so I took off the dressings on Friday, only to catch the scab with my other thumb and set off heavy bleeding. Now it's still strapped up but safe.

Well I'd better actually get up and about. I've taken Mum her cup of tea and managed to get back under my duvet. I only went to sleep at nearly midnight as I was catching up with NCIS for too long.

    Happy Sunday everyone.

    Morning everyone,

nmlc sorry to hear about your colleague.
Gers glad that your thumb is on the mend.

Off to church in a minute then out walking with OH.
This afternoon I would like to try to sort the garden a bit more, got some great plants from a local allotment sale last Saturday and still need to find a home for the dahlias.

I am back to work tomorrow and DD2 has more exams.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning everyone,

Dull and overcast here but it's due to brighten up, it was late coming yesterday but we ended up with a lovely evening.

I do ache a bit today after all the bending and stretching down needed to clip Bill's feathers off, they took about 40 minutes to do and was worried my clippers wouldn't hold enough charge but got done. He looks very smart, just need to sort his mane and beard out during the week :)
Am a bit excited as we are off to London this afternoon to see Bruce Springsteen at Wembley Stadium :j:j I lurvve the Boss and have seen him before but years ago so can't wait. Am off tomorrow as we won't get back until late, girls are going into kennels over night so Tilly won't be impressed when I drop them off this morning :(

Have a good day everyone, take care folks x

off to Westgate for the day once the tip has opened and I can tip the old TV.Boys will go swimming and I shall sit on the front with my floppy sunhat and have a read with a cuppa by my side My idea of bliss on a sunny Sunday:)

    Good morning all,

Very overcast here at the moment, hopefully it will clear later.

Lainey have a wonderful time seeing the "Boss". He was here on Friday night and we only live 4 minutes from the Arena, so could hear some of the show. Evidently he was, as usual, wonderful, but the parking and the stewards were abysmal and it took people a long time to drive out of the area. According to our local paper some people had been camping here since the Wednesday to make sure they had a good place.

We were going to the tip today, but unfortunately as we found to our cost yesteday, almost all the city centre is closed off because of a Motor Fest and we live the other side of the city, so tomorrow it will have to be.

I was not best pleased with my hairdresser yesterday, she kept we waiting three quarters of an hour so I think it is time I found a new one. I don't mind a few minutes, but I think that is taking the micky.

    Have a good day all

  • Morning((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.

Bright morning we are supposed to get wall to wall sunshine today, about time too. OH is looking forward to having lunch in the garden. No actual gardening being done, weekends are time off.

New baby has been introduced to her uncles, nice picture on Facebook. My youngest son was a sucker for babies, just loved them.

Cannot decided whether to put a wash on or not, I will see what white washing there is in the bin. Will have the bed linen to do tomorrow as well as towels and a dark wash.

Time to get up and doing.....
