The 3rd party insurer will have preferred bodyshops that they use and whilst they cannot demand you use them if you don't it will most likely slow down to whole process.

    No.

One of the advantages of using the third party insurer is that they will happily let you use your own choice of repairer (which is your right)

As opposed to using your own insurer who will put obstacles in the way of using your choice of repairer (eg no courtesy car/extra excess to pay etc)

The accident was about 5-10mph however she managed to do £3500 worth of damage lol and mess up the rear axel so :S.

Update - Insurance company have offered me £825 for my vehicle and let me keep it as CAT C or £1100 and they give my car to a salvage company. They did say they removed £100 for the rust on the rear of the vehicle and that £1200 was the max they would pay if I managed to find an example.

It needs to be on autotrader, 130,000k 2000year and in "fair" condition (Golf gti 1.8t)

I think it seems like a fairly good offer for my car, paid £1300 3 years ago.

I paid £1000 for a 2003 1.8T with 120,000 so that offer is quite on the mark .
