How can you set up a payment plan when she has literally no money? She is at college full time and isn't claiming any benefit as she isn't eligible to.

She hasn't got any assets either, unless you class a Moto G as an asset for all its worth.

If she has no money at all then how does she pay for calls and texts on her phone, how does she pay for travel to college or even basic needs such as housing and food?. She has borrowed this money and spent it so she needs to pay it back!.

Also why is she still in college?. If she was a student over 6 years ago why is she still in full time education?. Isn't it about time she got a job and started earning money?. Plus even full courses are usually only a few days a week so she could get a part time job.

I pay for her phone, she walks to college, she lives with me rent free.

She has gone BACK to college to make a career for herself, what she was doing wasn't earning enough when she was living on her own, which is what got her into debt in the first place. This wasn't her choice, she was forced to live beyond her means from other circumstances.

Anyway, she has now contacted Cabbot to request proof the debt belongs to her.

Despite having the Natwest logo on the card, I'm pretty sure the credit card isn't really anything to do with the bank. I had the same current account and student credit card, but nothing could be done in branch regarding the credit card, couldn't ask them to cancel it, couldn't get any answers etc. relating to the credit account.

Just something to bare in mind if you're trying to get any more details!

But she could still get a part time job to earn some money in the mean time. I'm doing a foundation degree but I still work full time!.

I really don't understand why you are asking for proof the debt belongs to her?. You openly acknowledge that it is her debt!. Obviously you should make sure they can legally collect the debt but you both know she owes the money!.

Same as she could repay what she owes, but there are "easier" ways to go through life, right? OP can confirm how easy it is for her.
  • I had the same problem with Cabot, they got a ccj in my name and tbf shoosmiths solicitors always seem ok

email ns-financial@mail.com for help, they arranged a £1 p/m for myself which was easy to pay off

Debt buyers are the scummiest companies out there though, really should be illegal

We actually got a letter a couple of weeks ago which said they have dismissed the case and they won't take any further action because they couldn't provide the evidence we requested.
