If you have already paid 90% of the capital on your mortgage, I find it odd that the bank won't lend you £5K.

Even with unemployment, your home must be worth more than £5K, and so there must be a reason why the bank has declined this.

The CC that gives that rate is Barclaycard, till March '17, or an extra year for 2.9%., OK, not a year but still cheap money.

Ours were also long distance, but payment in full was requested by large and small removal companies that quoted for us.

I didn't think it was anything to do with distance, but more the amount of stuff/length of time to load & unload (5 days)/cost involved (around 4K).......

Knowing you onlline Phoebe i am pretty sure you own a lot more stuff and of a lot more value than my little family :o:D

I hope you aren't suggesting that I claimed they were.

    yes you are guessing.
Other people may equally guess that the OP just can't be bothered.

I guessed at nothing though, I just made a suggestion that no-one else seemed to consider.
The OP can come and explain why getting a job isn't an option if indeed it isn't. Their opening post didn't explain.

But this isn't relevant to the question as such is it? It seems like you're just being cantankerous for the sake of it...

Here's a controversial way for the OP to resolve this issue.

    Get a job.

I would love nothing more than to be an employed and useful contributing human to society. I hate being on JSA. I've been out of work for 2 months but it feels like 2 years.

Yes I am looking for work, however I am also looking to become self employed in the long run so downsizing would release cash and allow me to invest in my future. Unfortunately I did one of those mickey mouse degrees when i was at Uni and a Music Production degree in the 'real' world job market is essentially useless. Instead i find myself looking for low paid manual and low skilled jobs of which there are few but many many applicants. My problem is I am often 'Overqualified' ha what a joke. I've actually been told that on a few occasions.

I'm actually very lucky i have an option of being able to utilize my property, many people my age are still living with their parents.

So self employed it is, when you find yourself in a hole, the only person that can pull you out is you. And the only way to get there is hard work and determination, there are no quick fixes. Except maybe winning the lottery
