    As I said it has never occurred to me to wash clothes before wearing and not something I'm aware of being done.

    those of us with skin problems often wash new clothes and bedding before using. they use chemicals on fabric that can bring you out in a rash.

    Have you tried washing with a colour catcher? Or a white restorer powder like the vanish one?
