Manheim Auctions

I'm a private buyer, possibly will be buying from Manheim Auctions next week, I was just wondering if anybody is familiar with them?
I've bought from auction before but only from BCA auctions, I've never been to Manheim. I'm guessing they are similar in format etc.
I'm trying to find out what their policy on deposits is, ie how much is it immediately following bidding, and what the Buyer's Premium amount is for a car costing around 4k? I've had a look on the website but it just says to see the notices in the auction hall, it doesn't give any rates online. Is there anyone who can fill me in?

Hello mouthscradle,
I bought a car for 1900 quid (ie the bid price) from Manheim in 2005.
Total Mannheim fees on top were 135 quid.
My advice is to make sure you buy a car with a trial (older and vehicles below certain amounts exempt) and take someone with you who can spot mechanical faults, ex-taxis and the like.0 -
Hi gaz, thanks for the help.
The cars we're looking at are all previously owned by Motibility with Warranted mileage up to about 40k, some are under 20k.Mother, wife, scientist, analyst.

Your wise to choose Motability - now the UK's largest fleet!
Manheim are similar to BCA, so you'll need 10% - minimum £500 as a deposit guide.
What you MIGHT be able to do, rather than carry £$£$ around with you, is lodge your debit card details & pay deposit that way (before the sale)
Do read through the buyers premium though, it's substantiually more than a trade customer pays. So if you have a friendly local dealer, you know, you could find a BIG saving, if he were to bid n buy for you!

Hi mouthscradle,
I'm looking at getting a 2005/2005 mazda 6 or mazda 3(saloon). Does your subscription allow you to view what prices these cars are going for?0 -
Hey thor, My subscription doesn't let me view prices, I'm not sure if proper account holding members of the motor trade can see recent prices or not I have no idea. Sorry. Let me know though if you want to search for any coming up for auctionMother, wife, scientist, analyst.

That's a pity. I would have thought that being able to see online how much cars go for at auctions would have been one of the most useful functions of such subscriptions. I hope you did not pay too much for it mouthscradle.0

Well it's main use for me was being able to search and see where and when the type of car was being auctioned, I managed to find a sale near me that had 6 of the type I wanted, and got one there for way less than I would have done from a dealer. Without being subscribed there is no way to view sale catalogues in advance, so it was invaluable to me. Also, it goes into alot of detail for many of the cars being auctioned, including a PDF file on each one giving a photo and tons of info about it, including any damage/marks, which is a great bonus as usually with an auction you have no idea if you're gonna get there to find the car is nice or a wreckMother, wife, scientist, analyst.
