Tesco doesn't always give 25% off wine when advertised

Has anyone else not been awarded the 25% discount when purchasing 6 or more bottles of wine in the recently ended promotion at Tesco (ended 30/05/2016).
I bought 6 bottles and one was £3.95; being less than £4 apparently this did not count towards my 6 bottles meaning I had only purchased 5 towards the qualifying required 6 so no discount was applied. To my shame I only noticed this on returning home due to distractions when at the till - a new member of staff who wasn't quite up to date with how everything worked, not his fault but distracting nether the less.

Non qualifying wines are:
All wines below £4.00.
Small bottles.
Boxed wines.
Wine route wine.
Case deals and gift sets

Does anyone know when these new T&Cs came in to action and what are "Wine route wine"
I'll be very interested to know. I cannot find these T&Cs on Tesco's website either.

Wine route wine is a cheap wine "brand", presumably excluded as they make very little profit when sold.

Takes less than 10 seconds to scan your receipt to make sure that an offer has been applied whilst standing at the till. If you aren't vigilant then things can be missed :)

You didn't obey the T's & C's so it wasn't an error on tescos side it was an error on your side.

The advertisement is 25% off when you buy six qualifying bottles of wine. As you admit yourself only 5 of your bottles qualified for the promotion.

I don't see what Tesco have done wrong....

The exceptions to the discount are most likely due to the law that bans the sale of alcohol below cost price, defined as alcohol duty plus VAT, which came into force on 28th May 2014.

Applying the discount to low value lines may take them below that cost price threshold and as such be against the law.

Sounds like a simple user error.
