Europcar used to deliver for free. Now they charge £15 per delivery (so £30 for drop off and collect).
(Also, had a bad experience with europcar last time where they tried to charge me for not filling the tank when had. Fully suspect the guy who collected the car used it as his personal run around for the day and then they expected me to pay for the fuel!)
Any idea if any other car hire companies do delivery (for cheaper)?

Enterprise pick you up if that's any good, but you have to do the paperwork at their office. Not sure how far they will come though.
Also I returned with less petrol and they only charged me £1/litre for the difference!0 -

Had an argument with europcar about this once. They charged me £11 for fuel for 4 litres!
They're excuse was I had to pay for fuel to get it back to the depot. Which was 9 miles away.
I pointed out that unless the driver had driven it back in 1st gear it was hard to do about 9 miles per gallon. Fully suspect the guy had driven the car around for a bit, gone to get his lunch etc.
It was a bit off when they then refunded the money saying it "was a mistake". i.e. caught out.
Worse thing was they just charged my credit card, no email or invoice every sent. Wonder how many people they get away with this on.0
