Hi, I'm at home caring full time for my husband, so I receive Carers Allowance, he receives Disability Living Allowance, and we both receive Income Support as a couple, as well as Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit. My dad usually gives us money for birthdays and Christmas, what's the maximum he's allowed to give us?

Depends on how much he has.
He can give up to £3,000 per year to everyone in total and it won't be counted for IHT purposes. He can give as many people as he wants a gift of up to £250 per year. He can gift as much of his income as he wants.
For you...once your total assets (excluding the home you live in) exceed £6,000 you need to inform them. So if you get a cash gift spend it on essentials and you'll be fine.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
