Energy bill estimates on Zoopla
Options
Hi all,
I am looking into buying my first home, on my own. I have never had to deal with energy bills before so this is an unknown entity to me... As such, I was wondering how accurate the energy bill estimates given for properties on Zoopla is? I am finding these estimates a massive help in working out total monthly costs so if these were pretty spot on that would set my mind at ease. Anyone know? Do they just base this on the current cost it is costing the selling occuprants at present or their own estimate based on property size etc?

Never trust a third party website. My advice would be as follows:
1. Ask the present occupants for their usage, in kWhs, over the past year. It is hardly a State secret.
2. When you move in, register with the 'deemed Supplier' and ask them for the Estimated Annual Consumption (EAC) for electricity and Annual Quantity (AQ) for gas for the property. This is the historical data recorded for the property. When you have spoken to the deemed supplier then use this data in a comparison site to switch. Remember that deemed contract prices tend to be on the supplier's standard variable tariff. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It estimates my energy usage at about £820 per year (£68 p/mth). Tracking to be more like £620 so about 30% over estimation. But then theres only two of us in a 3 bed house.0

Ok great, thank you for your response. Mine would be a One Bedroom flat so maybe not quite so much difference in the estimation0
