In my opinion it was a rude response, obviously I am starting to research the subject.

There was nothing obvious at all,you gave a strong impression you had bought already, not that you were considering it.

    "about to be"
    "The property is already let",
If it were my property already.... I would already be a landlord not "about to be a landlord". and in any event you should not assume anything especially if you are being rude in your reply.

You can see how long I have been a member of this site, and I would never respond to a newbie question like that. I am here to ask questions on subjects I know little about to get ideas to take further into more indepth internet searches. I am also here to answer questions on subjects I know a lot about to help others.

IMO this place is as good as any to start research, it's just a pity you always get some @#$%'s but that is the nature of the internet.

Brilliant idea. I know, I'll put my entire future financial security at risk on an outside punt ..... and take on one of the most problematical and heavily legislated areas of the BTL market.....

How do you know it is my entire financial security and not just a part of it?

If you been around long enough you should know better and read the forum Stickies

I have no problem answering newbie questions in the subjects I know about, I don't be rude to them and tell them to read the stickies and to look in google. I also know that others on here feel the same as I do and will (and have) respond to my questions.

As I say you always get rude @#%$'s on internet forums.

Look at another member who posted about a first time landlord compared to yours:

Worlds apart and actually did some reading. While advice is generally given, you can't expect other people to do all your work for you?

New or aspiring landlords should find a specialised forum to post on.

They may get some flak if they haven't done some homework first, but at least they won't be judged for wanting to invest in property.

    .

That's plainly not true you can clearly own a house without being a landlord yet, indeed since you mentioned students my immediate thought was you'd bought in order to get ready for the New Years intake in September.

I think the assumption many made was, you had bought and were now going to let it out. You wouldn't be the first such poster here doing that.

If someone had asked "have you bought yet" that could have engendered the response "of course otherwise I wouldn't have said I'm about to be a landlord, id have said I was considering it"

If multiple people draw the same incorrect conclusion from your post I think it's fair to say that it's your post that was confusing. Not deliberately so, but still confusing,

Talking of confusing you seem to have made your mind up to become a landlord even without understanding the financial and legal aspects first, such as would it be profitable? . Is that correct ? Or is your mind open to not becoming one ? That's the impression I get but I wouldn't want to assume anything :D

I can't be bothered to read the rest, Student lets are normally let till end of June, the place is clearly already let, and some students are staying over for another year. If it were my property I would already be a landlord.
